The Levee Improvements Project will conduct additional paving work along Beach Park Boulevard to expand and maximize safety efforts in the area on or around Monday, July 12.

The Levee Improvements Project has completed phase 3 sheet pile installation and grading from the San Mateo Bridge to Anchor Road, marking a significant milestone for the project.

The City of Foster City is asking for the community to partner with us in keeping our City streets safe for all users by exercising caution and following safety protocols on Beach Park Boulevard. Please remember that the bike lanes should only be used by cyclists and the sidewalk is reserved for joggers, walkers, strollers and non-motorized scooters.

The Levee Improvements Project will resume work in the Phase 1 area (Port Royal Drive to Shorebird Park) on or around June 7, starting with the closure of the Baffin Street crossing to Belmont/Redwood Shores. A revised detour map is available on the project website.

Foster City City Council and the Levee Improvements Project team gathered near Bridgeview Park on April 30 to commemorate the installation of the final sheet pile in Phase 2 of the project, from Shorebird Park to the San Mateo Bridge. The sheet pile installation began in early March in tandem with the Phase 3 closure from the San Mateo Bridge to Anchor Road.

With Bowditch Middle School scheduled to welcome students back to campus for a modified “hybrid” learning schedule beginning Monday, April 19, the school and the City of Foster City would like to remind community members to use extra caution when driving near the Bowditch Middle School area.

Foster City invites the community to stay involved and learn the latest updates regarding the Levee Improvements Project by participating in the next Community Update on Wednesday, April 21 from 5-6:30 PM. This meeting will focus on addressing recreational water use safety information and guidelines, in addition to general project news and updates. 

The City of Foster City is reminding community members that the closure of the Levee Trail from the San Mateo Bridge to Anchor Road (Phase 3 of the Levee Improvements Project) is expected to take place beginning on or around April 1, 2021 (as initially announced in a February 26 press release).

Foster City invites the community to stay engaged regarding the Levee Improvements Project by participating in the next Community Update webinar on Thursday, March 11 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Construction for the Levee Improvements Project is underway, which requires pedestrian and bicyclist detours onto public streets while the project is in construction. Due to the increased pedestrian and cyclist usage, the designated detour route on Edgewater Boulevard, from Beach Park Boulevard to Baffin Street, will receive temporary bike lanes to enhance safety.
